Children of Bodom is maybe the most widely known Finnish metal band around the world. Their albums have debuted three times on position #1 in the Finnish music charts and their albums have also been seen on the United States Billboard 200.

Their style is to play fast and technically, accurate genres being melodic death metal, speed metal and power metal. The guitarist Alexi Laiho was considered one of the top 50 fastest guitarists in the world by Guitar World magazine.

The name of the band is derived from the Lake Bodom murders, maybe the most famous murder case in Finland. In 1960 four teenagers were camping at Lake Bodom when all four of them got stabbed with a knife. Three of them died and one survived with injuries. Forty years later the survivor was sued for the murders, but the jury deemed him to be innocent. The murders remain unsolved.
