Sentenced was one of the most known Finnish metal bands. Their first two albums were death metal, but then they changed their style towards more melodic and light music.

Sentenced held their last gig in October 2005 near their in Oulu near their home village Muhos. The gig was filmed and released as a DVD called Buried Alive, the DVD sold platinum later on.

Their main composer Miika Tenkula died in his home in 2009.
